The Future of Presenting the Past

The Presenting the Past project has captured a wealth of material which UWALS will make available to as many interested parties as it can. That wealth of material will include a photography archive, a collection of original writings and songs, oral history recordings, research material, artwork and a documentary film.

UWALS will host a lot of the material on this website as well as liaising with the Stories in Stone Capturing the Past team to share the material via their website. We have plans to follow up the exhibition by sharing the material with Hawes Museum as we have done in the past and using Upper Wharfedale village halls to give talks and share the material. In order to raise awareness of the existence of this material and how to access it, we will use our contacts with local history groups, as well as schools.

In early 2020 Matthew Roberts kindly agreed to loan the original glass negatives to the North Yorkshire Archive Service in Northallerton for their safe keeping.

Anybody who would like to know more about how to access the material after the exhibition should please email us on uwalsociety@gmail.com

We are also happy to come along to talk to any groups about the project and/or about the outcomes, please do get in touch by telephone 01756 770051/770350 or email us at uwalsociety@gmail.com.
